Fundamentals
The pillars of gsBase
technologies are:
Ease of design,
ergonomics and great performance: however complex they may be,
gsBase applications never occupy more than 2 Mb; the associated data files
of such applications are also quite small (their variable length allows
optimizing their size and taking maximum advantage of memory and disk free
space), and the high-power gsBase database motor makes the system extraordinarily
fast and available.
Minimum hardware
resources usage: this simplicity allows using minimum hardware resources
for the server (processors, memory, disks and backup devices). Actually,
gsBase does not need complex and expensive copying devices or huge servers,
with a simple last-generation PC it can provide thousands of users with a
simultaneous service. Thus, gsBase end customers can, without greater
complications, have approx. ten exercises online with reduced disk usage.
Minimum bandwidth usage for
communications: the gsBase client-server communications technology is so
optimized you only need a minimum bandwidth to work with impressive speed. The
network traffic generated between client and server has been designed to be
as minimal as possible. With a simple modem connection by RTB or GPRS, the
system can work perfectly from 56 Kbps on up.
Does this mean gsBase systems are
inconsistent or have been designed for reduced installations?
Not at all! gsBase allows managing the
requests from thousands of concurrent users in the same server and at the
same time; at present, only multinational companies have these huge needs.
gsBase transaction systems offer you a reliability of 99.99% to manage your
data. The initial prices of gsBase allow any kind of installation you can

use reduced-size systems, using minimum resources, etc. if most of current
storing devices are huge (terabytes, megaflops ...)?
Well, it might seem superfluous
to minimize hardware occupation and resources, but if we think of this in
environmental terms, it is ESSENTIAL. The indiscriminate use of hardware
resources implies HUGE energy consumption. It's not just about servers or
sets of servers working together, but there are also backup devices,
impressive bandwidths (routers, hubs, communication servers, etc), highly
sophisticated cooling systems, etc. In short, BIG ENERGY COSTS, and not
only for companies' balance sheets. The implied environmental impact is
tremendous. In gsBase we are aware of this and try to do our bit.
